Writing master thesis is a very controversial topic. Everyone has a different approach to whether writing master thesis is a good solution. Some think that students should acquire various kinds of scientific titles such as bachelor’s, engineer’s or master’s degree in this way.

According to others, final exams are a better solution. The vast majority are supporters of writing thesis. Studies were also conducted among students of various universities and based on the collected data, it turns out that they are also amateurs of this solution.

Students think that it is easier to write a thesis than to learn for the final exams. A large number of people interviewed admitted that writing bachelor’s, engineering or master’s theses did not cause them much of a problem. What can be observed at the majority of universities is the tendency according to which only a small percentage of students, or even negligible, do not defend the work they have written.

Compared to universities where final exams are in force, the pass rate is much lower. In the relationship, no wonder analyzing student preferences. What’s more, most lecturers have a similar opinion on this topic.

They are also more in favor of the master thesis than the final exams. In different European countries this situation looks different. In some countries, students write their master thesis while others are required to pass final exams.

Writing master theses – general reflections

Even the best written dissertation does not guarantee professional success. For many students, compulsion to write a thesis is a source of unnecessary stress. They often search, so they support experts in a given field. These students usually find them on the internet. Thus, classic market law works here: there is demand, there is supply.

The master thesis is only an introduction to a professional career. Nowadays, employers are not looking at masters as much as they used to. The candidate’s professional experience and potential are more and more important for them. Formal qualifications are secondary to them. Part of the specialists from the labor market claims that in the future employers will choose candidates based not so much on formal competences as on their potentials and communication skills. Perhaps in part, this theory begins to work.
